All our Advent O antiphons apply to Jesus our Saviour the most magnificent titles drawn form the Messianic prophecies and throw light on the various prerogatives of His salvific work.

Today we have been given a prophecy from the prophet Isaiah: O root of Jesse, you stand as a signal for all the nations. Kings fall silent before you, whom the peoples proclaim. O come and deliver us and do not delay.

God is calling us, the world, to wake up to the wonderful work of creation and more especially to the signal, the apex of creation, Jesus Himself.
“Though he was in the form of God, Jesus did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross. (Phil 2:6-8)

Jesus came to invite us to become like Himself, to be children of God the Father, who in His infinite love of mankind pours out His mercy upon us, hourly, daily. If we but listen to His voice and harden not our hearts he will be the true Sign of our Salvation - I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, He tells us.

Maranatha, come Lord Jesus and deliver us, do not delay
Let us pray for the grace to follow Him generously.
