STUDY
Hearing, Pondering and Studying the Word of God
If you make my word your home you will indeed be my disciples; you will come to know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
Jn, 8: 31-32
Because the Word of God underpins all reality, we try to reach deeply into that truth by study – a life long endeavour.
For us study is not simply an intellectual pursuit but an openness to truth wherever we encounter it and a willingness to be challenged and changed by it. It is the constant pondering of God’s Word in our hearts, like Mary, – always seeking to understand more fully our God Who is Love and Who reveals himself in so many ways.
In lectio divina – the prayerful reading of Sacred Scripture we are united with Christians all over the world who are reflecting on these same texts. We listen that others may hear! The measure of our openness to the Word is a source of enrichment for the whole People of God.
Nothing is without a voice.
St Thomas Aquinas
All that God made is a word of love to us. Aware that we 'live and move and have our being' in God we try we develop an openness to learn throughout our life, in every age and season, in every human ambient and context, from every person and every culture - open to being taught by any fragment of truth and beauty found around us.'
